Firstly, take the parking brake cover out and unplug the switch. Then, remove the adjustment screw, the retaining bolts, the parking brake cable and pick up the handle assembly out of the vehicle. Check the sector and ratchet pawl to see whether it has any damaged teeth, and inspect the return spring to see whether it is weak or damaged and replace it accordingly. Prior to installation, lubricated the sector and the teeth of the ratchet lightly with lithium base grease. Lastly, assemble the parts in the same reverse order as they were disassembled.
