Mazda MX-6 Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and reinstall the rocker arm assembly on Mazda MX-6?
    A:
To install the rocker arm assembly, first of all you need to disconnect the negative battery cable and then take off the camshaft cover. Relax assembly of the rocker arm that includes retaining bolts one by one, in the prescribed order, and when they have been loosened, remove them and place in a numbered cardboard to put them back. Remove the rocker arm assembly in the engine. During installation, wipe the contact surfaces of the rocker arm assembly and the cylinder head dry to eliminate any residue of sealant. In case the assembly is disassembled, lubricate it with clean engine oil heavily, after which it should be put back. Lubricate the surfaces on the cylinder head and rocker arm assembly where the contact takes place with a sealant, and then ensure that the assembly slides down in place to have the bolts screwed in finger tight into the original holes. Tighten bolts gradually to the required amount and check the valve adjustment and adjust accordingly. Lastly, replace the camshaft cover and reconnect the battery cable.
