To install the equalizer-to-brake lever cable, it is necessary to start by loosening the wheel lug nuts of the rear and ensure that the rear of the car is elevated and then safely fixed on jackstands and the front wheel blocked. Take the wheel out and make sure that the parking brake is in full release. The second thing to do is to remove the console at the parking brake lever as well as the parking brake lever adjusting nut. Under the car, one should take out the exhaust and heat shield parts towards the connection of the parking brake cable to the parking brake lever, the return spring and front parking cable, respectively. Remove the rubber grommet that is in the floor pan and take out the front parking cable. Installation Repeat the steps of removal in reverse, greasing the end of the cable that fits in the equalizer and rubbing silicone over the sealing edge of the rubber grommet to make it watertight. To change the equalizer-to-parking brakes cable, take out the parking cable mounting bolts of the drum brakes, or the nut of the rear disc brakes of the parking brake cable floor pan mounts, and then disconnect the parking brake cable of the rear wheel. Pull off, the parking cable retaining clip to the bracket end and the parking brake cable to the equalizer, by twisting the cable end until it can be pulled off. Pick the cable out of underneath the vehicle and in order to install, reverse the steps to take the cable out then coated the cable end that makes contact with the equalizer with a small amount of grease. Lastly, the parking brake should be adjusted after connecting the parking brake cable again.
