The motor that drives the two windshield wipers is found beneath the metal cowling on the bottom of the windshield. Start by twisting off the negative battery cable and leave it. Install an assistant in the car who will be in charge of the windshield wipers by pushing the windshield wiper action button inside the car and then unattach the negative battery cable when the wipers are straight up. In order to ensure that the glass does not suffer accidental damage, it is advisable to use rags or even a cover to separate the
Wiper Blades and the windshield. The second step is to remove the protective cover on the wiper arms at the intersection with the body cowling and disassemble the lock nut, cup washer, and outer bushing on each of the wiper arms. Note and label the positions of the wiper arms before removing them off the shafts to be fit back using a tape on the sides of the arms on the windshield. Draw off the wiper arm assemblies by the shafts and pull off the shaft lock nut. The next step is to take off the four screws which connect the cowl plate to the body, raise the cowl a little, and disconnect the washer hose at the nozzle, and then remove the cowl plate. Unplug the two wiring couplers at the wiper motor, and detach the wires out of their clips and push them aside to allow access to the motor and linkage assembly. Unscrew the four bolts that hold the motor assembly in place that has two bolts on the top of the firewall and two on each side of the linkage arm and gently pull the motor and linkage assembly out of the cowling recess. To perform a re-installation, fasten the motor and linkage assembly, and begin all four securing bolts, but do not tighten them, and then tighten them. Reconnect the wires to their clips again without disturbing the functioning of the motors and hook the two wiring couplers to the motor. Install the piece of cowling and reconnect the washer hose to the nozzle, and install the piece of cowling by using the four screws attached to it. Insert the wiper arms in the splined shafts with the help of the alignment marks on the windshield to fit on the splined shafts, fit the outer bushing, cup washer and lock nut on each shaft and tighten the nut. Lastly, fit the protective cover over the lock nut, reconnect the negative battery cable and put the wipers into operation and ensure they do not rotate to the cowling of the body, and make appropriate adjustments to the arms on the shaft.
