To raise the rear of the vehicle and ensure that it is on jackstands without rolling the front wheels, start with 2004 and older models but first start with jackstands and ensure that the rear side is raised. It is then removed by removing the
Driveshaft and driveaxles, then the bolt holding the differential bracket to the subframe and then the three bolts holding the differential mass damper. Unscrew the electrical connector at the tip of the top of the differential, use a floor jack to stabilize the rear, and remove four bolts holding the differential on the brackets. Unscrew the bolts which hold the brackets to the subframe, lift the brackets and take the differential out. Installation: When installing install all mass damper bolts finger tight, and then tighten them in the required sequence, all the fasteners should be tightened to the required specification. On models 2005-2012, lift the vehicle up and place it on jackstands and take out the spare tire, rear driveaxles and then the driveshaft. Install a floor jack underneath the differential, tie-downs, and disconnect the wiring, and then take away the differential front mounting brackets. Ensure that the differential is stabilized on an assistant and remove the three mount bolts at the rear and then with caution, lower and remove a differential, tightening the fasteners to the recommended torque when installing. To model years 2013 and subsequent, jack and place the vehicle on jackstands, loosen the driveaxles and vehicle rear subframe including the differential attached. Unscrew the four mounting bolts of the front and two of the rear of the differential assembly, then the three of the left and right mounting bracket bolts, lastly, unscrew the differential off the subframe. When installing, make sure that all fasteners are tightened to the recommended torque.
