Wear gloves when working inside the door openings to protect against cuts from sharp metal edges. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery (except while raising or lowering the window position) while performing the procedure. For 2012 and earlier models, begin by removing the door trim panel and the plastic watershield, then lower the window until the glass-to-regulator mounting bolts are visible. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, remove the screws retaining the door window glass, lift the window glass, and loop tape over the top of the door to support it. Disconnect the electrical connector from the window regulator motor, remove the mounting bolts, and take out the window regulator/motor assembly. Reconnect the battery, and ensure the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its idle and fuel trim strategy for optimal performance. Installation is the reverse of removal, and lubricate the rollers and wear points on the regulator with white grease before installation. For 2013 and later models, remove the door trim panel, plastic moisture shield, and door speaker, then disconnect the window glass from the regulator, raise the glass, and support it with tape. Disconnect the window regulator motor electrical connector, remove the fasteners securing the window regulator assembly, collapse the two window track guides, and carefully guide the assembly out of the door cavity. Installation follows the reverse order. For rear models, remove the door trim panel and plastic watershield, lower the window until the glass-to-regulator mounting bolts are visible, disconnect the negative battery terminal, remove the screws retaining the door window glass, lift and slide the door glass up, tape it securely, disconnect the electrical connector from the window regulator motor, remove the mounting bolts, and take out the window regulator/motor assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal, lubricate the rollers and wear points on the regulator with white grease, and reconnect the battery, ensuring the PCM relearns its idle and fuel trim strategy for optimal performance.
