Neutral Safety Switch Installation and Repair Tips for 1997 Mazda Millenia

  • Q:
How does the park/neutral safety switch function as the reverse light switch and what are the steps for its removal and installation on 1997 Mazda Millenia?
    A:
When the battery is disconnected and the vehicle is secured, accessing the park/neutral safety switch which controls reverse lights may be required. The switch and lever were separated post-matchmarks and reattached with the shaft at N, tensioned to specifications. A 2mm pin (4mm Millenia) was used to ensure the engine only starts in Park or Neutral.
