1986 Mazda B2000 Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to remove and install the lower control arm for 2-wheel drive front suspension on 1986 Mazda B2000?
A: To take out and install the lower control arm of a 1972-84 year vehicle, first of all, lift the front end up and place it on jackstands beneath the frame and then take off the wheels. The second step is to remove the shock absorber lower shock absorber bolts and force the shock upwards to clear the space. Disconnect the front stabilizer bar to the control arm, then place a floorjack under the lower arm and lift it up compressing the spring, and hold it using a safety chain or spring compressor. Unscrew the lower arm ball joint and drag the spindle and the ball joint out of the arm. Slowly lift the jack with keeping the spring in place. Take out three retaining bolts of the lower control arm and hoist the arm out of the frame. To install, fasten the spring to the arm, and then install it, loosely, then unscrew the chain or the compressor and tighten the retaining nuts and the ball joint nut to 70 ft. lbs. Lastly, install the remaining parts in the reverse order and ensure that the front end alignment is done.
