1991 Mazda B2200 Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to remove and install the upper control arm on 1991 Mazda B2200?
A: In order to install and remove the control arm of the pickup, one will first need to loosen the wheel lug nuts slightly and raise the front end on jackstands under the frame. Then take out the wheels and prop up the lower arm using a floor jack. Install a ball joint separator tool, remove the cotter pin and nut of the upper ball joint and separate the ball joint and upper arm. Take out the nuts and bolts that keep the support bracket and upper arm shaft together, making a note of the number and position of the shims underneath the nuts, which have to be replaced in the same position to have the wheel in proper alignment. Check every component of the car in terms of wear or damages and change any suspicious elements. Install the control arm assembly and install the mounting bolts and nuts with the alignment shims in place. Install an arm shaft 60-68 ft. lbs. to tighten upper arm shaft 2WD, 69-85 ft. lbs. to tighten upper arm shaft 4WD, tighten ball joint nut 30-37 ft. lbs., and install new cotter pin. To replace control arm bushing, in case of service requirement, the upper control arm of the front suspension will have to be taken off in order to unscrew the bushings.
