How to remove the A/C expansion valve on 2006 Mazda 6?

Air conditioning converts high-pressure liquid refrigerant to lower-pressure vapor at the evaporator, chilling it and cooling airflow. Conversion uses a sudden tubing-size change, controlled orifice at the firewall, or thermostatic expansion valve (TXV).
