How to remove the hood latch and hood release cable on 2006 Mazda 6?

Disconnect the negative battery cable, scribe alignment line, remove bolts, hood latch-avoiding the airbag sensor mounted to the latch bolt. Lift, disengage cable, remove bumper cover and headlight, raise vehicle, remove wheel and splash shield, detach clips, remove handle and pull cable through firewall. Reinstall in reverse.
