How to replace the headlight bulb and adjust the headlights on 2014 Mazda MX-5 Miata?

To change the bulb of 1997 and earlier models, first switch on the headlight to lift the headlights then remove the negative battery cable. Unscrew screws on the side of the headlight bezel and remove the bezel. The next step is to take away the headlight retaining ring by unscrewing it and turning counterclockwise about one eighth of a turn. Open the housing and unplug the wiring connector of the bulb then replace the bulb by a new one by reverting the steps used to remove the bulb and ensure that everything is working appropriately. On 1999 and subsequent models, which have removable halogen bulbs, unscrew the negative battery terminal. In the event of replacing a right side bulb, do not disconnect the hoses to the windshield washer fluid reservoir. On 2006 and subsequent models, to access the bulb, remove the fasteners of the splash shield of the front wheel well. Unplug the electrical connector and the bulb and turn it out in a counterclockwise direction. In order to install a new bulb, one has to fit the lugs on the base of the bulb into the cutouts in the housing, insert the bulb, and turn it clockwise until it fits. When there is a warning on a headlight bulb, and there is a cover on it, do not try to remove it. In 1997 and earlier models, two screws, available at the front of the housing, should be used. In 1999 and the year 2000 models, use the vertical adjustment screw on the rear side. Those made between 2001 and 2005 have both horizontal and vertical adjustment screws and those made since then have only vertical adjustment screw. To align the headlights, apply masking tape on the wall to note the reference points, position the car at a distance of 25 feet and manipulate the beams, so that the low beams are positioned two inches below the horizontal line and the high beams are in line with the center position, one inch below the line.
