How to replace the batteries and access the battery trays on Mazda 3?

To change the batteries, the first step will be to pull the retaining tabs back to take out the battery cover and then, disconnect the cable to the negative terminal and the positive terminal. The second step is to take off the battery hold-down clamp and then take off the heavy batteries with great care. In case of replacement, make sure that the new batteries are same in terms of dimensions, amperage rating and cold cranking rating and attach heat shield of old batteries to the new ones. To install, use the same procedure in the reverse order i.e. connect the positive cable first and the negative cable last. In order to reach the battery tray, remove the batteries first, followed by removing the battery tray mounting fasteners and lift the tray. Disassemble the PCM cover and fasteners without unconnecting the PCM connectors and to install the PCM, repeat the same process in reverse order, first connect the positive cable to the PCM and the last to be connected is the negative cable.
