How to remove and install the airbag module and steering wheel on Mazda 3?

In order to pull out the airbag module, I would first switch the ignition key to Off, and also disconnect the negative battery cable. The second step will be to straighten the steering wheel to ensure the straightness of the wheels and to remove the key. Removing the hole covers on both sides of the steering wheel and unscrewing the airbag module mounting fasteners, grip the module slightly out of the wheel on one side, and then repeat on the other side. Disconnect electrical connectors by lifting connector locks and then place airbag module in a safe place. Make matchmarks on the steering shaft and the wheel, then remove the steering wheel mounting nut and rock the steering wheel to loosen up and make sure to feed the wires and connectors as you do the same. Tape the clockspring to ensure it does not turn around because turning the steering shaft during the removal of the wheel and airbag would end up damage. In case the clockspring has to be removed, remove the steering column covers then turn the inner rotor clockwise until it stops then turn it anti-clockwise 2-3/4 turns, matching the marks on the clockspring and outer housing. Installation can be done by passing the wiring and airbag connection through the wheel, re-inserting the steering wheel back onto the shaft matching the match marks and connecting the mounting nut to the desired torque. Lastly, attach the connectors to the airbag module with the safety tabs up, and as per the color-coding of the airbag connectors, connect the module down to the wheel and until the connecting clips fit.
