How to remove and install the valve cover on Mazda 3?

The first step towards removing the valve cover is to remove the battery cover and disconnect the cable with the negative battery terminal. Then loosen the upper engine cover using each side and lifting it off the central posts on the mounting. Removal of the single ignition coil assemblies of the spark plugs. Unplug electrical connectors of the oil control valve of the camshaft sprocket variable valve timing actuator, cylinder head temperature sensor and the camshaft position sensor. Disstrip the bracket with the valve cover stud that contains the wiring harness and put the harness off, followed by removing the engine oil dipstick. Remove the valve cover that has fasteners installed in the reverse order of the time of installation then remove the cover including the cover gasket which needs to be replaced whenever it has been disturbed without any damage to the sealing faces. To install, clean the cover, cylinder head gasket faces thoroughly, attach a new gasket to the valve cover, and make sure that the gasket is properly positioned. Place a small amount of RTV sealant on the top of the timing chain cover at the point of intersection of the valve and timing covers with the engine. Install cover to the cylinder head with the gasket in place when tightening the cover. Install the mounting bolts, one at a time by hand and then install them in the order to the desired torque. Lastly, reattach the battery and start the engine to ensure there is no leakage of oil.
