How to Remove and Install the A/C Switch Assembly on Mazda 6?

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the center console. Remove the shift lever knob and shift panel. Use a plastic trim tool to pry the center trim panel assembly from the instrument panel, if necessary, disconnect any electrical connectors. Caution: On some models, the center trim panel goes around the A/C Switch and down around the shifter in the center console. When prying, be sure to work all the way around the perimeter before trying to remove the panel. For 2008 and earlier models with manual A/C, depress the locking tabs on each side of the control unit and pull the unit forward. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the module and the control cables. Remove the control unit from the instrument panel. Installation is the reverse of removal. For automatic A/C models, remove the A/C Switch retaining screws on the back of the center trim panel. Installation is the reverse of removal. For 2009 and later models, remove the A/C Switch retaining screws and pull the unit forward. Disconnect the electrical connectors to the module. Installation is the reverse of removal.
