Mazda 6 Ignition Switch

The main task of the Mazda 6 Ignition Switch is to activate the starter system of the sedan so the engine can start with a key turn or a button press via the Ignition Switch. The switch is mounted on the column or dash and it powers the car computer, activates parts like windows and the radio, then starts the starter solenoid and ignition circuit, a sequence that is indicative of Mazda reliability. Previous generations applied a mechanical key, and therefore the switch could only open when its distinctive grooves aligned with internal tumblers, which was an easy but efficient theft prevention. As the Mazda 6 developed, all Ignition Switches started cooperating with an immobiliser which reads a coded transponder in the key, preventing any attempt at hot-wiring while retaining the familiar feel of the twist. The new trims have transitioned to a push-button connection that remains nonfunctional until the presence of the same chip is confirmed, and it is highly convenient, with almost hands-free convenience, and does not compromise security. There are still some drivers who like feeling the key in its different detents, which testifies that tactile feedback is still an element of the experience. Despite the style, the Ignition Switch is connected with specially dedicated plugs, which makes it easy to change the Ignition Switch and is vehicle-specific. The fact that all Ignition Switches control vital electrical flow is the reason why a responsive switch is the key to fast ignition, consistent powering of parts, and long-term trustworthiness of any Mazda 6.

It should be done with caution since doing both of them at the same time of taking out the ignition switch and key lock cylinder may result in damage of the steering column. Unscrew the electrical connector the ignition switch, then screw out the mounting screw and press the release tabs so that the ignition switch can be pulled off the steering column. Installation of the switch is the opposite of its removal and is best installed in a snapping manner. The ignition switch and key lock cylinder should also be taken with caution. 1. Turn ignition key on 2008 and earlier models or ACC off 2009 and later models. Depress the release button of the key lock cylinder with a proper tool and take out the key lock cylinder. In order to install the key lock cylinder, it is necessary to insert the key lock cylinder into the housing of the lock cylinder and press it inside until it clicks. Ensure that the ignition switch is working properly in the OFF, ACC, RUN and START positions with installation being the opposite of uninstallation. It is not necessary to remove the lock cylinder illumination ring in order to replace the lock cylinder.
