In order to install or remove parts to make either a 2-wheel drive or a 4-wheel drive, to start with, you need to support the front end on jackstands and take off the wheels. In the case of 2-wheel drive, the grease cap, cotter pin, hub nut, and flat washer must be removed, followed by removing the caliper and disc runout should be checked. Take the hub off the spindle, including the outer bearing, and matchmark the hub and disc and unbolt the disc. Check wear or other damage of the disc, and get it turned at a machine-shop where the thickness must not be less than a specified minimum. In re-assembling, matchmarks must be matched and disc to-hub bolts tightened to a specified torque. Hub and bearing should be filled with clean grease, inner bearing and seal reinstalled (if removed), hub on the spindle and seat with the outer bearing, flat washer, and hub nut, and drag on the disc checked and hub nut tightened as needed. In case of 4-wheel drive, the wheels are removed and bearing play is checked after which the caliper, locking hub, snapring, spacer, set bolts, bearing set plate, and locknut are removed. Remove the hub and plate, including the washer and bearing, and mark each with a matchmark and loosen the disc of the hub. Installation, aligning the matchmarks, attaching the disc to the hub with a specified torque, and the installation of the hub, outer bearing, washer, locknut, set bolts, set plate, snapring, spacer, locking hub, caliper, and then the wheels are installed.
