Mazda B2200 Radiator

The Mazda B2200 Radiator maintains a cool temperature for the engine of the Mazda pickup by removing excess heat from the coolant before it can pose harm to important components. It is placed just behind the grille and serves as a fin and tube heat exchanger Radiator that directs the hot coolant out of the engine into small aluminum channels where the attached fins are open to provide the incoming air with a large surface area, allowing convection to sweep away the warmth in a short duration of time. The initial generations of the truck were made using heavier copper or brass cores with soldered tanks, with the subsequent generations adopting newer and lighter aluminum Radiator cores with plastic or aluminum end tanks, a design change that reduced weight and increased corrosion resistance without reducing cooling capacity. All units operate in a similar way irrespective of material; an upper tank is fed by the heated fluid, the water pump transfers it through the core, and a lower tank transfers the cooled mixture back into the block. At low road speeds, electric-powered or belt-powered fans reverse the natural draft, keeping the temperature gauge constant in traffic or on steep climbs. The highly frequent Radiator failure is leakage, which is typically due to vibration or internal sediment, but with a small pinhole one can make do with an improvised patch, and the leak can be fully fixed by replacing the entire part. Reliable cooling allows a Mazda to work hard without overheating, which has long been the Mazda reputation for toughness that enables the B2200 to remain on the road.

Mazda B2200 Radiator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the radiator on Mazda B2200?
    A:
In the installation and removal of the radiator in both Pickup and MPV and Navajo models, the first step is to drain the cooling system, and it is important to use a container with a seal to ensure that pets do not get access to the ethylene glycol antifreeze which is lethal. In the case of Pickup and MPV, take out the fresh air duct, separate the upper and lower radiator hose, and the coolant reservoir hose. When fitted with an automatic transmission, looseness the cooler lines, then unscrew the fan shroud and fan, but be careful not to put the fan on its side where there is a fan clutch. Un screw and take off the radiator, and put the new radiator in place against the support and open the mounting bolts. Install the hoses and cooler lines back in place, the fan and the shroud, and refill the cooling system with the correct coolant, and then run the engine to check for any leaks. In the case of the Navajo, drain the cooling system, empty overflow lube in the coolant recovery bottle, and radiator, as well. Unless provided with it, disconnect the transmission cooling lines, unbolster the shroud off the top and place it out of the way of the radiator and then disconnect the upper and lower hoses. When a radiator is to be changed, ensure that radiator is removed by unbolstering the radiator or on the upper part and then install the radiator by putting the radiator in opposite sequence by filling up the cooling system and testing it on leakages.
