To change and replace the water pump of different engines, it is important to start by emptying the cooling system but must remember to put up a container with a seal because the pets can die of the ethylene glycol antifreeze which is poisonous. In case of the 2.2L, disconnect a negative battery cable, unquestion the alternator and power steering pump belt, and the timings belt covers, and then align the crankshaft and remove the crankshaft pulley and water pump. Wipe the mounting surfaces down and fit the new pump using new O-rings and gaskets and tighten the bolts to the required torque. To disassemble the engine 2.6L, take off hoses and the drive pulley shield, and place a new O-ring gasket then screw in the water pump assembly. The 1989-93 models differ slightly, disconnecting the battery ground, accessory drive belts are removed and the fan removed then cleaning the surfaces of the gasket before placing the new pump with a sealer-coated gasket. In the case of the 3.0L engine, a relieve fuel system pressure, release various parts such as air cleaner and drive belts, unbolt and clean water pump surfaces and fit a new gasket and fasten the pump. In the case of 4.0L engine, empty the cooling system, disconnect the hoses and fan assembly, cleanse the mounting surfaces of any debris and apply gasket sealer and mount the new pump, making sure that all the hoses, fan assembly are reclassified and that the system is filled and bled. Once all engines have been installed, leak inspection can be made by running the engine.
