All the covered vehicles are designed to use metric-size tires in the form of fiberglass or steel belted radial tires and the size or type can influence the ride and handling. This does not necessarily mean that mixing tires of different types, e.g., radials and bias belted, on the same vehicle should have a serious effect because it will affect the handling. Tires are to be changed in pairs and in the case of one tire, it should be of the same size, design as well as tread of the other. The level of tire pressure, which influences the handling and wear, must not be overlooked at least once a month or prior to long journeys. Bent and dented wheels, wheels with leaking air, with long bolt holes, very rusted wheels with out of vertical symmetry, lug nuts that do not fit tight and can't be tight are some of the reasons why they should be replaced. Welding or peening of wheel repair is not advisable. Tire and wheel balance: Tire and wheel balance can greatly influence overall handling, braking and tire life; any imbalanced wheels can adversely impact on handling, ride characteristics and tire life, and therefore when tires are mounted on a wheel, they should be balanced to achieve this by an appropriate shop using the right equipment.
