In order to replace the exhaust manifold, detach the negative battery cable off the battery. The second step entails the removal of air cleaner and lifting the front of the car ensuring it is steadied by jackstands. Disattach the exhaust pipe of the exhaust manifold, and pour in penetrating oil on the threads of the fastener where they are hard to loosen. Take off the heat shield of the exhaust manifold, wet the bolts and nuts with the penetrating oil and then trying to extract them. Then, loosen the bolts connecting the exhaust manifold and disconnect the manifold with the cylinder head. Installation requires scraping off the gasket mating surfaces on the manifold and head with a scraper then wiping them off with a rag that has been dipped into lacquer thinner or acetone. Install the exhaust manifold on the cylinder head and screw in the nuts in a crisscross fashion beginning with the center to the required torque. The rest of the preparation is in the opposite sequence of de-installation. Lastly, check engine starting and exhaust leakages between the manifold and cylinder head, also between the manifold and the exhaust pipe.
