When lifting the vehicle for service or component replacement such as an exhaust pipe hanger, you should inspect the fuel lines and all fittings and connections for damage. Look for cracks, kinks, deformation or obstructions in the hoses and pipes + Ensure that any hoses and pipe clips are securely attached under the vehicle. Check that the hose clamps that join the metal fuel line or tube to the rubber hose are sufficiently tight. If any damaged parts have to be replaced, then use original equipment replacement hoses for pipes made from the same materials as the ones being replaced. Do not use substitutes made from materials of lesser quality that could cause a fire or fuel leak. Before removal or disassembly of any part of the fuel line system, note the routing of all hoses and pipes, as well as the orientation of clips and clamps, so that the replacement sections are routed and oriented correctly. When joining rubber fuel hoses to metal lines, overlap the hoses and use a new hose clamp that is the correct type. Before disconnecting any component of the fuel system, release the pressure in the fuel line and tank by removing the cap from the fuel tank and disconnecting the battery. Furthermore, cover the fitting that is being disconnected with a rag to soak up any fuel spray that may occur.
