In order to take out the oil pan, one must first unstable the negative cable to the battery, after which the vehicle is raised and placed on jackstands. The second step would be to drain the engine oil by first removing the undervehicle splash pan and then adding a new oil filter. Unscrew the bolts of the oil pan with a ratchet of long extension and a swivel socket to make it easy. Remove the oil pan, either by hammer and block of wood, in case it is firmly attached; or by prying between the pan and the block without bending the flange or damaging the mating surface. Once the pan is removed, we clean the mating surfaces with lacquer thinner or acetone and remove all the old gasket material and sealant using a gasket scraper of both the block and the pan. To install, make sure that the threaded holes on the block are clean with the continuous line of RTV sealant applied in the event of no oil pan gasket or sealant applied to the seams in the event of the presence of a gasket. Use a thread locking compound on the oil pan bolts, install the oil pan and tighten the bolts to a specified torque. The other steps involve the reverse sequence of removal. After at least 30 minutes to dry the sealant fill the crankcase with oil, start the engine and check the oil pressure and leakage.
