In 2005 and older models, the negative battery cable is first disconnected, then the console is removed along with the center A/C Switch and radio control panel. Deconnection of the air mix and airflow mode wire to the heater unit behind A/C Switch and the air intake wire to the blower unit is done. In 1997 and earlier, take off the screws of the A/C Switch, wring out the assembly out of the dash, and unplug the electrical connector. In the case of 1999 to 2005 models, the assembly is held by spring-type clips, you must pry off the trim parts and then you have a set of special removal tools to slide out the control assembly. Installation is done in this reverse order and the A/C Switch wires are connected and adjusted. To allow the air intake wire to be adjusted, position the REC-FRESH lever to Fresh, attach the wire and ensure that the lever moves its full range. In the air mix wire, the temperature lever should be set to MAX HOT, the air mix wire connected and the movement of the lever checked. In the case of the airflow mode wire, the MODE lever should be set to VENT, the wire should be connected and the lever has to be functioning. In 2006 and beyond, the cable has to be disconnected on the negative battery terminal, the lower panel, knee bolster, sidewall trim pieces and the center panel unit are to be removed, the assembly of the A/C Switch is to be removed on the center panel unit, and installed in the reverse order.
