Unscrew the lug nuts at the back, lift up the car and then place it in jackstands and then take off the rear wheels. Take out the exhaust system and hold the transmission in place, then take out the power plant frame, being careful not to drop down the cables and electrical wire connecting to the transmission. Disassemble the
Driveshaft, and on cars with ABS, also remove both rear wheel ABS sensors and harnesses off the rear knuckles, and put them in a safe place. In the case of 1997 and older models, unplug the speedometer cable. In 1996 models and earlier models, loosen the nuts that attach the inner
CV Joints to the differential output shaft flanges, and unscrew the upper control arm-to-rear knuckle pivot bolt to allow. In 1996 models and earlier remove the nuts that hold the inner CV joints to the differential output shaft flanges, and unscrew the upper control arm-to-rear knuckle pivot bolt to provide room to separate the inner CV joints, supporting the driveaxles with wire so that they do not hang against the On 1997 to 2005 models with splined inner CV joints that directly lead to the differential, totally eliminate the driveaxles. With them fitted, take out the tubes that hold the differential mount upon, with the support of a jack on the differential, and take out the mounting nuts on the upper mount on each side of the differential. Displace the differential forwards, downwards, and smooth it off. To remove the driveaxles of 2006 and subsequent models, find two bolts that hold the differential mount to the brackets on the back suspension cross member with a flashlight, then drop and remove the differential and the differential mount as one piece. Disassemble the four nuts that mounted the differential mount to the differential, and remove the differential mount. Installation is the opposite procedure as removal, making all the fasteners tighter, and verify that the level of the differentials is sufficient, topping it up, should the need arise.
