The electric side-view mirrors are steering wheel control, a left door trim panel switch allows one to adjust the side-view mirrors up-and-down and left-to-right. Those models that have dual power mirrors installed in the factory have a heater grid behind the mirror glass to clear fog ice or snow and in the event that a heater grid malfunctions, the entire mirror needs to be replaced. The heater/air conditioning control panel is located in the dash and consists of the heater grid switches and the indicator light of the heated mirror system, in the event of any failure then the heater/air conditioning control assembly is to be replaced. One of the fuse and
Relay Boxes has the heated mirror relay. The power mirror control switch is provided with LEFT-RIGHT switch to send the voltage to the required side-view mirror. When using the ignition in the ACC position, it is advisable to roll the windows down and follow through on all the functions of the mirror control switch, hearing the sound of both the electric motors. When you can hear the motors but the mirror glass is not moving, there is a likelihood of the drive mechanism inside the mirror being defective, therefore the mirror will have to be changed. In case no sound is produced and the mirrors are not working, it is worth checking the fuse in one of the fuse and relay boxes. When the fuse has not been cut off, the door panel should be taken off so as to reach the rear of the mirror control switch and not to cut the wires. When the ignition ON button is on, one of the switch terminals should have voltage, without voltage, an open in the wiring between the fuse panel and switch should be checked. In any operating position the switch must be disconnected and continuity checked in the event that the position is live, and a replacement switched must be done in the event that the continuity is zero. Once the switch has been reconnected, the wire, which is attached to the switch and ground, should be identified, and a jumper wire should be attached to this wire and ground to determine whether the mirror works as intended, which implies that there is a fault in the ground connection that should be repaired. When the mirror remains non-functional, the mirror should be removed to verify that there is a voltage at the mirror wires with the ignition key in the ON position and the switch to mirror position established so that there is a voltage at one of the switch-to-mirror wires in each switch position with the exception being the neutral position. When there is no voltage in one of the switch positions, the wiring between the mirror and control switch must be checked to ensure there are no opens and shorts. When the voltage is checked and it is found to be true, the mirror can be tested out of the car using jumper wires and replaced when it cannot pass this test.
