Disconnect the cable with negative battery terminal. In 2005 and earlier models, the cowl grille in front of the lower of the windshield must be removed, and the baffle cover above and behind the wiper motor must be removed. Disconnect the electric connector of the wiper motor, then disconnect the nut that holds the wiper linkage, the rear mounting bolt, the linkage arm, and remove it off the shaft. Loose the engine compartment fuse block and shift it. Take off the front mounting bolts of the wiper motor, turn them counterclockwise and remove it out of the car making sure to remove the lower bolt that holds a ground wire. In 2006 and later models, the first step involves the removal of the protective trim caps and the windshield wiper arm nuts followed by the removal of the windshield wiper arms. Go to the cowl trim panel and carefully peel off the panel with a trim removal tool. Unscrew the electrical connector(s) of the wiper motor then unscrew the mounting bolts of the wiper motor/linkage assembly and unscrew the assembly as a complete unit and put it on a clean work surface. The link arm balljoints on the motor crank arm should also be removed carefully with a trim removal tool. Clean off the nut attaching the motor crank arm, recording motor arm orientation relative to the motor, and remove the crank arm off the shaft. Lastly, unscrew the motor mounting bolts to have the motor separated of its mounting bar, but make sure the crank arm remains in the same position relative to the motor prior to removal that it was before disassembly.
