Mazda Protege Antenna Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the antenna on Mazda Protege?
    A:
Unplug the cable from the radio. For models from 1995 and later, remove the lower dash panel at the driver's side and disconnect the antenna jack. The antenna may be tested by checking continuity at the antenna cable plug end, which should show full continuity with no resistance. For models from 1994 and earlier, loosen any antenna cable clamps and disconnect the electrical power connector for power antennas. Remove the antenna mount screws or threaded mounting clamp as necessary for these earlier models, while for 1995 and later models, pull the antenna out of the vehicle windshield post A-pillar. Remove the antenna while pulling out the cable. Installation is the reverse of removal; for models from 1995 and later, tape the antenna jack to the antenna drain tubing, pass the antenna into the A-pillar antenna hole, connect the antenna base, and install.
