Removing throttle cable. This requires removing the throttle cable which is attached to a negative terminal of the battery first. The next step is to loosen the lock nut on the threaded part of the throttle cable at the plenum, and also on the accelerator cable. Rotate the throttle lever to disengage the throttle cable end out of the throttle lever slot. Disconnect throttle cable with the accelerator pedal and release the cable guide with the firewall and then pull the cable through firewall on the engine compartment side. To install, stillergate, the reverse order is to take out the parts and make sure the cable casing grommet fits in the firewall. To ensure that the throttle has been fully opened and that the play in the accelerator pedal is measured and the cable adjusted (where necessary) by loosening the lock nuts, then tightening them and ensuring that the throttle closes completely when the accelerator is released, all but 2.0L DOHC models require that the accelerator pedal be fully depressed, the play in the accelerator pedal measured, and the cable adjusted (where necessary). In 2.0L DOHC models, pull locking tab A to unlock, position the cable housing to establish a free play and then put locking tab A to the lock position after measuring the play in the accelerator.
