How to remove and install the timing cover on Mazda Protege?

Removal of the front cover Firstly, disconnect the negative battery cable and then remove the under cover splash shield. Make sure that the front of the car is on jackstands so that you can reach the front cover and then take off the front passenger side tire. Then take off the alternator followed by the air conditioning compressor without disconnecting the hoses and storing the compressor. Continue to remove the crankshaft pulley, water pump pulley, timing belt covers, timing belt and timing belt guide. Slide the crankshaft off the crankshaft using two prybars or screwdrivers placed behind the crankshaft sprocket so that pressure is evenly distributed. Bolts or nuts on the front cover Screwdriver Place a screwdriver between the pump housing and front main bearing cap to remove front bolts or nuts on the engine block. To install, scrape all the residual gasket and sealant off the cover and engine block, clean the mating surfaces with solvent. Fit the front cover gasket to a thin coating of silicone sealant on the surface of the front cover gasket and re-fit the front cover to the engine block, the sealant must not block any oil passages. At last, install the bolts or nuts and tighten them to the required torque and then install it by following the reversal of the steps to remove it.
