How to properly install a Ignition Lock Assembly on Mazda RX-7?

Study these instructions carefully before beginning work, as the Ignition Lock Assembly is a theft deterrent and its fitting is somewhat permanent. Remove the steering wheel and steering column covers after taking off the negative battery cable. Then, remove the air duct at the bottom of the steering column and disconnect the electrical couplers to the combination switch. Remove the stop ring, cancel cam, and spring from the end of the steering column shaft. You can now lift the combination switch assembly on the left side of the steering column free of the column. The Ignition Lock Assembly body is secured to the column jacket by two bolts. Using a hammer and a chisel, make a groove across the head of each bolt so that the bolt can be removed with a screwdriver. The disassembly of the Ignition Lock Assembly from the column with the removal of these bolts, which has to be replaced as an assembly. Place a new lock assembly for the steering column jacket and tighten the two attaching bolts until the heads break off. To the steering column, fit the combination switch assembly. To the end of the shaft, install the spring, cancel cam, and stop ring. Join the couplers to the combination switch, ensuring that they are keyed for easy installation. To the underside of the dashboard, install the air duct, followed by the steering column covers and then the steering wheel (note the alignment marks on the steering wheel and column). Once the negative battery cable has been connected, check if the Ignition Lock Assembly and the horn function correctly.
