Mazda Tribute Antenna Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the antenna and outside antenna cable on Mazda Tribute?
    A:
The procedure for removing the antenna and outside antenna cable involves several steps. First, unscrew the antenna mast from its mounting base using a 10 mm wrench. Next, remove the right scuff plate and the right lower A-pillar trim panel. Working under the right end of the dash, detach the two antenna cable clips and disconnect the antenna cable connector. Loosen the right front wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle securely on jackstands, and remove the right front wheel. Then, remove the right inner fender splash shield. Inside the fender area, remove the antenna cable grommet, pull the antenna cable into the fender area, remove the antenna support bracket nut, and pull the antenna mounting base down through its hole in the fender, removing the mounting base, support bracket, and antenna cable as a single assembly. After discarding the old antenna base and cable, installation is the reverse of removal. For the rest of the antenna cable, begin at the connector and extend to the back of the radio. Remove the radio, then the right scuff plate and kick panel, and disconnect the inside part of the antenna cable from the outside cable. Remove the glove box and detach the three pin-type retainers securing the cable to the horizontal support brace in the glove box recess. There are two additional pin-type retainers on the vertical support brace at the right side of the radio recess that must also be detached before removing the inside antenna cable, with installation being the reverse of removal. For models from 2008 and later, start by removing the right windshield pillar trim panel and the right sun visor. Carefully pull down the front of the headliner to access the satellite radio wiring connector and disconnect it. Loosen the antenna mounting bolt, press the tabs to release the antenna, and remove it. To remove the antenna cable, take out the radio and disconnect the cable from it, with installation being the reverse of removal.
