Mazda Tribute Coolant Temperature Sensors Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What are the components of the coolant temperature indicator system and how do coolant temperature sensors function on Mazda Tribute?
    A:
The coolant temperature indicator system has a warning light or temperature gauge attached to the dashboard and a coolant temperature sending unit fitted to the engine. All four-cylinder models, 2009 and other subsequent V6 models use a Cylinder Head Temperature(CHT) sensor, whereas the 2008 and earlier V6 models use an Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. These sensors relay data to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and are also the coolant temperature sending unit.
