How to remove and install Automatic Transmission Shift Levers on 2003 Mazda Protege?

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, remove the consoles and control box side covers, and take out the indicator panel screws. Unscrew the nut securing the shift cable to the shift lever and pull the cable end. Remove the shift assembly by unscrewing the securing nuts and lift it clear. Adjust the shift cable as needed.
