How to remove and install a front control arm on Mazda 3?

To take out the control arm, it is important to loosen the lug nuts of the wheel, then lift the front part of the car, place it firmly on the jack stands, and take out the wheel and splash shields. Then loosen the mounting bolts of the front auto leveling sensor link of the lower control arm (where it has them) and disconnect the electrical connector of the ABS sensor. Take off the steering knuckle-to-ball joint pinch bolt/nut and disconnect the ball joint and the steering knuckle, then take off the arm-to-crossmember mounting bolts. To be able to finally remove the control arm, the air conditioning compressor shield has to be removed to reveal the bolts in the control arm to the 2.0L engine models. To inspect the control arm: check the control arm during inspection to determine whether it is distorted and check the bushings during inspection to determine whether they are worn, replacing as required and never attempt to bend a bent control arm. To install, reverse the sequence of removal, and keep all the fasteners tight with the correct torque values. Prior to attaching the fasteners of the control arm, elevate the outer end of the control arm with a floor jack to replicate normal ride height. Lastly, fit the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle and screw the lug nuts to the required torque and it is always better to check the front wheel alignment and correct it in case of need after the job is over.
