Mazda 323 Instrument Cluster Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and remove the instrument cluster on Mazda 323?
    A:
Unhook the cable on the negative battery connection. To remove the steering wheel; in models after 1996 the lower the steering wheel with the tilt lever and then remove the steering column covers. The following step involves removing the instrument cluster bezel and the screws on the instrument cluster to detach the cluster of the dashboard. Early models may have the speedometer cable disconnected at the instrument cluster and if the speedometer cable is noisy may be lubricated by injecting lithium grease or other lubricant of suitable nature inside the cable body by opening it during disconnection. To install the electrical connectors is the opposite of removing them, and this takes a little time, depending on how far away the cluster is.
