In order to remove the wheel, loosen the lug nuts, to begin with, lift the vehicle and place it in jackstands so that the wheel can be removed. This is followed by the removal of the brake caliper and brake disc, and the brake hose of the strut. In case the vehicle possesses ABS, take out the wheel speed sensor. Loose the strut-to-steering knuckle nuts and bolts and do not take out, but part the tie-rod end of the tie-rod and the steering knuckle arm. Take out the pinch bolt and nut that attach the steering knuckle to the lower balljoint and loosen the control arm balljoint out of the steering knuckle. Eject the driveaxle out of the hub and hold a piece of wire up at the end. At this stage, the strut-to-knuckle bolts may be loosened off and the steering knuckle may be gently separated off the strut. To install, insert steering knuckle and hub assembly, but insert driveaxle into hub. Insert the steering knuckle in the strut flange and fit the bolts and nuts without tightening them. Insert the balljoint into steering knuckle and attach the pinch bolt and nut which are tightened to the required torque. In case of installing a new balljoint, install the balljoint on the control arm, and leave the bolt and nuts loose. Install the tie-rod on the steering knuckle arm, tighten the steering knuckle arm strut bolt nuts, the balljoint-to-control arm bolt nuts and the tie-rod nut with a new cotter pin on the tie rod nut. Install the brake disc on the hub and fix the caliper, which is then followed by the driveaxle/hub nut and screw it on to the required level of torque. Lastly, attach the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle and screw the lug nuts to desired torque.
