Disconnect the cable from the negative batteries terminal first, then disconnect the cable from the positive batteries terminal. Remove the batteries hold-down clamp, then slide the batteries insulator up and out, if equipped. Lift out the batteries, being careful as they're heavy. Note that batteries straps and handlers are available at most auto parts stores for reasonable prices, which make it easier to remove and carry the batteries. Remove the batteries tray mounting fasteners and remove the tray. If you are replacing the batteries, make sure you get ones that are identical, with the same dimensions, amperage rating, cold cranking rating, etc. Also, be sure to remove the heat shield from the old batteries and install it on the new batteries. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to connect the positive cable first and the negative cable last.
