In order to test the mounts, lift the engine slightly to put the strain off the mounts. Start by lifting the car and firmly holding it in jackstands and place a jack under the oil pan of the engine with a large wood block in between the head of the jack and oil pan to avoid damaging the object. Slowly lift the engine to an extent that would ease the mounts. Check the mounts to see whether they have any cracks, hardened rubber, or are not glued to the bushing in the middle. Determine that there is no relative movement between the mount and the engine or chassis by means of a large screwdriver or a prybar, in case of movement being found, the engine may be lowered and the mount fasteners tightened. Uncouple the cable in the negative post of the battery, and then raise up the vehicle on jackstands should not have done so already. Position a floor jack below the engine, and put a wood block in between the jack head and the oil pan and hoist up the engine to take the weight off the mounts. Unscrew the fasteners and unscrew the mount to the frame and engine, but do not disconnect more than one mount at a time, unless the engine is being removed. Installation is the opposite of removal and thread-locking compound should be applied on the mount bolts and they should be screwed firmly.
