Mazda Air Temperature Sensor

Mazda Air Temperature Sensor provides the engine computer with real-time data about the incoming air so that the fuel delivery remains precise and the power feels vivacious. Mazda began building vehicles in 1931 and quickly became famous for the rotary engine, which was proof of the company's fearless spirit. Today, Mazda hones that spirit with Skyactiv powertrains that get more out of every drop of fuel, Kodo design that makes each body panel look like it's ready to pounce, and i-Activsense systems that help drivers avoid trouble while keeping the ride interesting. The brand also plays around with electric drive and ingenious all-wheel drive so weekend trails feel as welcoming as city streets. Every innovation has one goal, which makes Mazda cars fun, efficient, and stylish without making them too expensive. The universal Air Temperature Sensor fits into this philosophy in that it works across the lineup, reading the heat of intake air and telling the Powertrain Control Module to adjust injector timing on the fly. As the sensor senses colder, dense air at dawn or hot, thin air on a summer afternoon, it allows the computer to balance the fuel and spark to prevent hesitation and minimize wasted fuel. Clean signals from the Air Temperature Sensor also provide smooth idle, lower emissions, and quick throttle response to ensure each Mazda rewards its driver with confidence and economy.

You'll get great performance and real durability when you pick genuine OEM Air Temperature Sensor. Mazda builds these using high-quality materials and official factory methods to ensure they hold up mile after mile. You deserve that Mazda reliability without the headache of cheap knockoffs. It is easy to find exactly what you need in our huge inventory of genuine parts. Plus, every OEM part carries a real manufacturer's warranty for your peace of mind. You will love our low prices too. Order today and we will ship your brand-new parts fast. They often reach your door in just a few days.

Mazda Air Temperature Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How does the intake air temperature sensor function and how can it be tested and replaced on Mazda Millenia?
    A:
The intake air temperature sensor is treated as a variable resistor, which changes its resistance depending on the temperature, and the computer is able to measure this change and hence detect the temperature of incoming air. This data is essential in modifying the air/fuel ratio and ignition timing parameters. To check sensor, across its two terminals, an ohmmeter is connected; readings of infinite resistance is a defective sensor. In vehicles which have a plate or cone-shaped type mass air flow meter, the sensor is built into the meter. Start the testing with disconnecting the negative battery cable and the sensor connector. Next, attachment of the ohmmeter between the sensor terminals and measurement of the resistance, and comparison with values 29.7-36.3 kohms at 77 °F (25 °C ) and 3.3-3.7 ohms at 185 °C. In case of discrepancy between the readings and the specifications then, the sensor has to be replaced. To remove, unscrew the negative battery cable and remove the sensor by removing it out of the air cleaner housing or air intake. When changing a sensor, make sure to put in a new sealing washer to the thermosensor.
