Mazda B2000 Axle Shaft Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to check and change the fluid level in the axle shaft on Mazda B2000?
    A:
To measure the level of the drive axle fluid, wipe the space around the filler plug and then take the filler plug off to make sure that the level of the lubricant is at the same level with the bottom part of the hole. In case of requirement of more lubricant, use the one that is indicated, normally pumped in via the filler hole, since Hypoid SAE 90 does not pour readily. To perform fluid change, jack up the vehicle and hold it up on jackstands then ensure you place a container under the drain plug and take off the fill plug to enable ventilation. Removed drain plug to allow the lubricant to completely drain without mixing it with the fill plug since the drain plug is magnetic to hold fine metal particles. Before replacing the filler plug, wipe the magnetic drain plug, replace it and pour into the rear axle the appropriate quantity and type of fluid. Lastly, test drive it by driving down the vehicle and examining it to see whether there are any leaks.
