To perform this procedure, you need a special Mazda puller (SST 49 0839 425C and 49 0636 145) or equivalent, three adapters (SST 49 F026 102, 49 B025 001, and 49 H025 001) or equivalent, and a hydraulic press. If you don't have these tools, remove the driveshaft and take it to a dealer service department or an automotive machine shop to have the center bearing replaced; they will pull off the center companion flange and the center bearing support assembly and press off the bearing from the support assembly. If you want to tackle this job yourself, remove the driveshaft, mark the center bearing and double-offset flanges, separate the front and rear sections of the driveshaft, and consult the accompanying exploded view for guidance.
