To enhance the idle smoothness, the ISC system varies the amount of intake air by regulation of the bypass air passing through the throttle body to enable the computer to adjust engine idle speed. To test the ISC valve, take away the IAC valve electrical plug and measure the resistance across both terminals with the required temperature with each of the models. Having removed the valve, cool the valve and measure the movement of the valve. Install a new gasket and make sure that it is in place then again install IAC valve and tighten bolt. Lastly, reconnect the battery cable and have the Powertrain Control Module relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy in order to provide optimal driveability.
