To remove and install the front
Wheel Hub and steering knuckle assembly for the Millenia, first raise and safely support the vehicle, then lock the hub by having a helper apply the brakes firmly before removing the locknut. Next, take off the brake caliper assembly and disc plate, disconnect the ABS wheel speed sensor cable mounting bolts, and detach the tie-rod end, upper leading link, and upper lateral link. Remove the lower arm
Ball Joint and take out the front wheel hub and steering knuckle as an assembly. For installation, replace the knuckle/hub assembly, install the lower arm ball joint, and torque the ball joint mounting bolts to 58-86 ft. lbs. and the ball joint nut to 86-115 ft. lbs. Connect the upper lateral link ball joint and torque the nut to 41-59 ft. lbs., then connect the upper leading link ball joint and torque the nut to 28-38 ft. lbs. Attach the tie-rod end and torque the nut to 41-59 ft. lbs., followed by installing the ABS wheel speed sensor and torquing the bolts to 14-18 ft. lbs. Finally, install the disc plate and caliper assembly, and use a new locknut torqued to 174-235 ft. lbs. For models other than the Millenia, raise and safely support the vehicle, remove the front wheel and tire assemblies, uncrimp the tab on the center locknut, and discard the old locknut. Remove the caliper assembly without disconnecting the brake lines, support it with wire, and then remove the brake disc. Detach the tie rod end from the steering knuckle, remove the stabilizer upper nuts and link bolt, and take out the lower ball joint pinch bolt and nut to separate the ball joint from the knuckle assembly. If equipped, remove the ABS speed sensor and tap the driveshaft free of the knuckle assembly before removing the knuckle assembly. For installation, place the bearing/hub and knuckle assembly, loosely tighten the knuckle to shock absorber bolt, install the lower arm ball joint to the knuckle, and tighten the pinch bolt. Reattach the driveshaft to the knuckle assembly, install the stabilizer control link, and if equipped with ABS, install the wheel speed sensor and tighten the bolts to 12-17 ft. lbs. Connect the tie rod ends to the knuckle, replace the cotter pins, and install a new wheel hub lock nut, tightening it to 174-235 ft. lbs. Check the end play of the wheel bearing with a dial indicator, ensuring no more than 0.0079 inch of free play is present, stake the locknut into place, install the brake caliper(s), put the front wheels back on, lower the vehicle, and check all bolts, re-torquing as necessary while inspecting the front end alignment and adjusting as needed.
