To verify that injectors are functioning properly, turn the engine on and place a stethoscope or screwdriver by each injector and see whether the injector makes a clicking noise which means the injector is operating, or hears no noise or an unusual noise, which means the wiring connections are not connected. In case of no stethoscope, you can feel a rhythmic clicking by touching each injector with your finger. Checking injector resistance file: To check the injector resistance, de-electricate the electrical connector, unplug connections to the injector and apply the ohmmeter on the injector connections and compare to the specified injector resistance. Replace an injector which is outside the recommended range. To replace, either V6 engines remove the VIS system or four-cylinder engines remove the air intake plenum to access the fuel injectors and fuel rail, and disconnect the injector connectors, dislodge the fuel hoses and remove the fuel rail mounting bolts or nuts. Pull the fuel rail/ injector assembly off the engine and remove the injectors off the fuel rail with a twisting motion. The installation is done in the same sequence as the one used to remove, and it is important to make sure that all the O-rings are replaced with new ones and that they are smeared with a small amount of clean engine oil to avoid any damage; the fuel system should be primed and provide a check on the presence of leaks.
