Checking the fan To test the fan, first unscrew the negative battery cable and shake the fans back and forth manually to test the bearing play. Turn the blades by hand when cold, it must turn freely. Checks: Check the clutch assembly, check the bi-metal spring to determine whether it is deformed or not, and check whether there is a lot of fluid leakage, and also examine whether there is leakage of grease on the exit, and replace the fan clutch accordingly. The ignition should be switched off, and the negative battery cable should be disconnected once more, when the engine is warmed up. Rotate fan manually; it must have some resistance and in case it is easy to rotate the fan then the fan clutch has to be replaced. To remove, disassemble the negative battery cable, unbolt and remove the fresh air duct on the
Radiator top and remove the nuts which hold the fan assembly to the water pump flange. Take out the top mounting bolts of the fan shroud and squeeze the plastic bottom fasteners on the lower parts of the fan shroud with the long needle-nose pliers. A
Cooling Fan Assembly may then be installed using a movement of both the shroud and fan upwards. Removal is done in the opposite sequence of installation.
