The internal transmitter is activated by opening the door of the driver when the UNLOCK button is released and when a second time is released within 4 seconds, both doors open. When you press the lock button it locks the two doors and switches on the alarm. As the the battery of the transmitter depletes its powers it becomes intermittent, needs to be brought nearer to the vehicle to work, and then it will cease to work any more. The process of changing the battery is thus to detach the key and the transmitter, then with a small flat-head screwdriver, press the tab and slide the key part off. Take great care in prying open the transmitter body using a small screwdriver by inserting it into the slot and "popping open the halves. Use a small screwdriver to remove the old battery and lay the new battery with the positive side to face up and cover it with a tight snap to avoid dirt, dust, humidity and rain to get inside the battery.
