Unscrew the lug nuts, lift the car and place it on jackstands in place and then loosen the lug nuts. Then loosen off the tie-rod end and jam nut. Next remove rack and pinion boot clamps by sliding the small clamp off the end of the boot and undoing the large clamp and the boot can be removed. Prior to fitting the new boot, coat the threads and serrations on the end of the steering rod with a piece of tape so as not to damage the small end of the new boot during the installation. Install a new inner clamp on the rack and pinion, slide the new boot into the rack and pinion until it fits into the groove of the steering rod, and install and attach the clamps. When the tape is removed, fit the tie-rod end jam nut and tie-rod end. Lastly, attach wheel and lug nuts, and bring down the vehicle and lug nuts to a given torque, and make sure that the alignment is verified by service department of a dealer or an alignment shop.
