In order to take out the power steering pump, first of all remove the cable on the negative battery terminal. Use a large suction gun or syringe to drain out as much fluid as possible in the power steering fluid reservoir putting a drain pan under it to prevent spills and capping or covering the hoses to keep it out of the engine. To 2005 and earlier models, pull off the drivebelt, loosen the clamp to unhook the fluid return hose to the pump, and pull off the electrical connector to the pressure sensor (where there is one). The second step involves removing the pressure line-to-pump fitting and removing the line attached to the pump, including checking the O-rings of the pressure line to replace in case of any need. Lift up the front of the vehicle safely on jackstands, loosen the pivot bolt/nut and adjuster bolt and remove the drivebelt one more time. Then, loosen the pivot, adjuster, and mounting bolts/nuts to detach the pump out of the vehicle and in case necessary, loosen the pump mounting bracket by removing its mounting bolts. In the case of 2006 and subsequent models, begin by taking the drivebelt off, then take off the electrical connector of the Power Steering Pressure switch, remove the pressure line banjo bolt and disconnect the pressure line. Loose the return hose clamp and unclip the return hose, then unscrew the two upper pump mounting bolts and the lower mounting bolt. Removal is the opposite of installation, and it is necessary to screw the pressure line fitting to the required torque and the tension of the drivebelt. Lastly, fill in the fluid level in the reservoir and bleed the system.
